We always need to learn in business but
(and this is going to sound directly contradictory, but it’s not when we get into it)
That doesn’t mean we don’t already know enough.
What I mean is, I’m willing to bet that you know everything you need to know to take the action that’s going to lead you to business growth
Even though there’s always more you could learn,
Always more you will learn and
(Probably) Work you need to do (which might include learning) so that you continue taking action consistently and sustainably towards your goals.
So, the question is:
How do you differentiate between:
Learning to help you grow
Learning because you don’t think you know enough, or are good enough, already and
Learning because that’s a more familiar path to walk towards results for your brain because of the way you’ve been socially shaped - learning to gain qualifications that are achievements and results in themselves etc.
If you’re growing an online business, have a content marketing strategy that includes visibility, engagement, promotion, connection and sales online which I guess you do since reading this
You have so much information coming at you:
This is what you need to do to grow your business
No, this is what you need to do
No, no, this is what you need to do to grow your business
That it’s SO HARD to know what you need to do, so you end up trying to do too much, or getting stuck not knowing which way to turn.
I believe we can look at all the information coming at us with the mindset that everyone is coming from a good place and with good intentions. We don’t need to tear down what anyone else is doing in order to make take action that will be powerful for us.
So, most of the time, I believe do this ONE thing to grow your business is right, whether the advice is to:
Nail your messaging,
Simplify your sales path,
Generate more leads,
Grow your email list,
Stand out on Instagram,
Refine your systems,
Hire help
There’s nothing wrong with any of these “solutions”, they just might not be the right solution for you, right now, where you’re at.
Your job (as a business owner) is to learn how to cut through all the advice you come across (marketing), not be swayed by it, determine your own ‘business gap’ and plug it with the right learning
(And by ‘right’ I mean, ‘right time, right place, right thing’ for you, not that there’s a ‘right’ answer, even though always and forever we all would like there to be one)
Anyway, back to reality:
But it’s you who needs to know and believe that and, if you don’t, that’s a gap to plug, skills to learn and a practice:
=>For your growth
=>For the growth of your business
=>To help you know that you are enough and that you know enough to take action and
=>Be discerning about other learning you will need to do along the way.
Think of it this way:
If you see a programme about mastering <insert your choice of social media platform here> to ‘blow up’ your business
That might seem like an excellent programme to do, to learn the ins and outs of a social media platform and go all in on it,
However:
IF your messaging isn’t landing with your ideal clients, it likely doesn’t matter how well you execute a social media strategy, you’re not going to see the results you want (Been there)
IF you don’t have confidence in your message, or what you offer your clients, it doesn’t matter how well you word things, you’ll still miss the mark (Been there)
IF you don’t take a step back and identify the right gap, because you’re up to your ears doing, doing, doing…
Then you could be taking programme after programme or working with coach after coach, searching for a solution to the wrong problem. (Again, guess who’s been there)
(I use the term ‘problem’ only because it’s the opposite of ‘solution’. A gap isn’t a problem - a gap is a gap and closing gaps is part of our job as biz owners, isn’t it)
Anyway, the point is:
In the example above, there’s nothing wrong with the <insert social media platform here> programme being presented as a solution - because it will fill a gap for someone who wants to short cut their platform learning when they have everything else dialled in - but it’s not the answer for someone who has a different gap.
(And what I love about the work that I do is that it’s designed to help you learn how to be the business owner who identifies the right gap for them, for want of a more elegant marketing-y way of describing it).
If you’re not seeing the business results you want from the actions you’re taking, or you’re not sure what actions to take to see the business results you want
If you’re overwhelmed by everything you feel you need to do to grow a business, or stuck not knowing which next step to take, I’ve been there more than once. I don’t want that to continue for you, because I know it’s frustrating, with a capital WTF.
My work is all about equipping you with the tools and empowering you to:
=>Cut through the noise
=>Trust yourself and your decisions
=>Make good decisions
=>Hold yourself steady through the (sometimes / often) uncomfortable feelings that come up around the action you need to take to execute on your decisions and
=>Stick to them until there are results for you to evaluate.
That’s harnessing your business owner role, your CEO solopreneur or micropreneur role, so that you can grow your business and achieve whatever it is you want to achieve - signing clients, filling programmes, making money, having impact, creating your lifestyle and a legacy, or all of that and even more.
The truth is If you want to grow your business in 2024 and you’ve not yet embraced your own entrepreneurial development and the need to Build the Business Owner to Build the Business
Then that’s the ONLY thing you need to focus on (and learn how to do) right now
If you want to set up a (no obligation) call to talk about your entrepreneurial development and how I can guide and support you (𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺, 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 20 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘙 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 7 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 30 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘵, 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘰𝘭𝘥 *wink*), we can easily do that.
