When I started my first online business in 2016, I knew I had a lot to learn about marketing, social media, pricing, sales and all the other external work that goes into running a business. I was excited at the prospect and enthusiastic about sharing my work with the world.

What I wasn’t prepared for, and didn’t expect, was the way that trying to grow a business was going to make me feel personally.

It wasn’t long before I was overwhelmed by self doubt and confused as to what action to take to move my business forward. I was consuming so much well-meaning, but conflicting, advice that my head felt like it was spinning and I became stuck. I had a long to-do list, was working and trying hard, but had very little to show for it and certainly not the results I wanted.

I knew what I wanted to do, but couldn’t decide on, or stick with, one course of action for fear that another would ‘work better’.

This created a vicious circle of hard work, with little or nothing to show for it, resulting in me feeling desperate and demoralised, trying to either do ‘more’, or switching social media platforms and offers in the hope of gaining traction. I invested in coaches, programmes and courses that made sense, but didn’t translate this sense into financial ROI.

Build the Business Owner works as a stand alone curriculum, but also includes an option to submit questions which I'll curate and answer those most of benefit to the group. In Build the Business Owner, you'll have access to audio answers to consume, as suits your schedule. Questions and answers will be available to all BTBO students through the course portal, so you can benefit from the answers to what others' ask too. The point is to provide you with the FLEXIBILITY and CHOICE you need as a busy CEO.

The curriculum will be delivered to you over three months, but your investment gives you a further two months in the container for Q&A. (Therefore, the duration of the programme is five months).

Q&A

What’s the difference between what you’re offering and business coaching?

Business Coaching services vary hugely but, in my experience, a Business Coach focuses more so on the external work in your business (your messaging, your visibility strategy, your sales process, your systems etc) with perhaps some element of mindset work too.

I’m not a Business Coach, I’m an Entrepreneur Trainer which means I focus on helping you develop your own ability to manage the external work of your business through focusing on developing the personal qualities that enable you to do so.

By that I mean, through:

Enhancing your ability to make decisive decisions, trust them and stick to them so that you get out of the stop-start stuckness cycle and instead feel confident to show up and share consistently to get your work in front of your ideal clients
Understanding what influences your thoughts and feelings and then using this understanding daily to your business’ advantage so that you're not derailed by self doubt, fear, or the many other pitfalls of humanness that like to show themselves when we think about taking big, bold business actions!
Knowing how to: make the best use of your time and energy; lead yourself, your business and your community; be comfortable with facing discomfort when taking action - really the pieces that enhance your ability to think and act like a CEO and approach your business (and its external day to day work) with this frame of mind.

Where messaging, marketing, visibility and sales trends come and go and the advice related to each of these regularly changes, when you learn, integrate and utilise fundamental entrepreneurial leadership development skills, they will be with you for the lifetime of your business.

Will this help me make money in my business?

That’s the idea, but it’s definitely not a promise I can make (and nor should any service provider) because I’m not you. I want to bring this understanding out of the ‘small print’ and into the conversation now so that, if you sign up to the programme, you do so from an informed place.

There’s a reason that course, training, coaching, mentoring and similar, terms of business say results aren’t guaranteed, because they can’t be. It’s your own combination of circumstances, abilities, effort, intention, experience and the like that will impact your own results.

What this means in general terms is (apparently just like with the gym equipment gathering dust in my garage), it only has a chance of working if you use the tool to DO the thing. That’s good news in this case, though, isn’t it, because you want to use the content and support available here to help you create the success that you know is possible for you.

To make your decision as to whether or not to enrol, it may help you to consider what you’re ‘losing’ in terms of time, energy and money in your business by, for example, overthinking, scouring live streams, podcasts and free masterclasses for ‘answers’ and wondering what you’re missing because ‘everyone else’ is making sales and you’re not, instead of investing in uplevelling your own ability to solve your business’ ‘problems’.

How do I know you’re legit?

I’m glad you asked this, because finding a mentor you trust can feel difficult in the online space.

How is the programme delivered?

You will receive log-in details to the course portal for the pre-recorded audio training and reflection sheets. Your device will need to be able to listen to mp3s and open and read PDFs.

The curriculum has been created to be 'stand alone' if that's your preference. However, you can access additional guidance and support if you wish - your welcome pack explains how you can submit questions. As a busy CEO, you need support to be flexible, without being tied to a particular call time or lengthy replay.

If I submit a question, will I receive a personal answer?

Submitted questions will be curated and answered to serve the group. This means similar questions may be grouped and answered as one, so you won't necessarily receive an individual, personalised answer. You will be able to access all questions and answers through your portal, so that you can benefit from others' questions as well as your own. We often don't know what we need to know until we hear someone else ask!

The big benefit of this approach is you can receive support not normally available in a 'course' format, without having to attend live calls, or watch lengthy replays, as is traditional in a group programme. Build the Business Owner allows you to ask questions and consume answers as works with your busy CEO's schedule.

How long do I have access to the materials?

You’ll have access to the programme content for 12 months from the end of the Programme.
